We should not judge anything merely on the basis of what it seems to be, because what a thing seems to be may not be what it really is. Some people who are short-tempered, when provoked, give in to their emotions wildly and violently, but once their tempers .cool, their violent tendencies disappear. Such people may indeed be good-natured when they are free of their bad temper. It may be that their amiable and harmless character is temporarily overcome by their ill-temper. However, there is the converse situation in which people boast of great achievements, when in reality, they may be very ordinary with mediocre abilities.
