Sub. : Request to initiate immediate steps to curb the tendency of reckless driving

Sir,

Hope you too share my rising concern for the safety of innocent citizens of the zone, who have been put to great risk on account of the tendency of reckless driving amongst our vehicle drivers. It is high time that proper steps are initiated to curb the menace without any further delay. Hardly a day passes, when one or the other student of my own school is not a sufferer on account of it. The actual figure of other causalities is too difficult to mention.

Only yesterday, an auto-rickshaw, bringing some students to my school in the morning, had a narrow escape, when a speeding Maruti Esteem, being driven by a youth, not having even a driving licence, was hit with great impact. The reckless youth was in a hurry to overtake.

May I, therefore, request you to depute some traffic policemen in order to curb the tendency of over-speeding at busy points. Those, who are found driving without a driving licence, or under the influence of liquor, have to be given harsh, deterrent punishment. Approach roads to schools, hospitals and places of worship are in urgent need of extra vigilence.

The people of the area are already full of praise and appreciation for the efforts, you have undertaken for improving the over-all law and order situation of the area and hope your timely lead in maintaining road discipline as well, will be visible soon.
