Respected Father,

Thanks for your kind and affectionate letter. I appreciate your concern for my future. As advised by you, I promise to work hard for my ensuing examination. Your suggestion to join business, after I complete my Senior Secondary Certificate, however, needs re-consideration by you.

Dear father, I must admit that I am working very hard and feel confident that I shall come off with flying colours in the examination.

As for joining your business after the exam, I do agree that you need a family member to extend to you a helping hand. But my ambition is to become an engineer and join service. There are many ups and downs in business and a businessman is always in tension, as day in and day out different government officials are on his nerves. Market trends take a heavy toll of his physical as well as mental energy. A serviceman, on the other hand, has a fixed income and is carefree.

Even if I make up my mind to join your business later later on, I must at least be a graduate. An undergraduate is not mature enough to start with confidence and faith. I shall be able to look after the business much better as a graduate than I can now as an undergraduate.

May I, therefore, hope that you will be kind enough to allow me to continue my studies after completing my Senior Secondary Certificate ?

With deep regards to mamma,

Yours obediently,

Rohit Bansal
