My dear Stewart,

I was terribly shocked and sad to know about your failure in the S.S.C. Examination. I know fully well that you used to burn the midnight oil for preparing yourself for this challenge. This unexpectedly, frustrating outcome of your sincere efforts should have come as a great blow to your good academic career and reputation.

But everybody, who knows well, cannot forget that, while appearing for this examination, you were fighting with death itself. Your courage and patience must be admired that you managed to take up the examination regularly, in spite of your indifferent health on account of jaundice.

You are not to be blamed for this failure. I have no doubt that, thoroughly optimistic as you are, you will not be feeling discouraged or run down. Health is the foremost requirement for any success in life. Now that you have recovered from your long illness, I am sure you will come out with flying colours next time. Do not feel discouraged and remember if winter comes, can spring be far behind ? You did your work sincerely before, and now you have to do your work once again with renewed vigour and energy.
