My dear Mr. Murthy,
I am writing this letter with a feeling of great hesitation, as my mother needs an urgent operation for cataract, that may cost us about Rs. 20,000/-. Since I have only Rs. 10,000/- with me and since there is no one else to help me out in my hour of need, approaching you for managing the balance is the only option to explore.
You know that even otherwise she has not been keeping in good health for the last one month and has been under treatment at a local nursing home. It has meant a heavy strain on my meager resources. Some outstanding bills are also to be paid urgently.
May I, therefore, request you to accommodate me with a loan of Rs. 10,000/-. I promise to repay it in a month’s time, as I am sure to get a loan against my PF by then. I hope you would extend your willing help not only to bail me out but assist my mother in having her vision restored. An early response would be highly appreciated.
With best wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Pradeep Saxena

My dear Mr. Pradeep,
I am in receipt of your letter. The news of your mother’s imminent operation for cataract, in addition to her indifferent health for the last one month, is really sad and painful. I understand the situation, you are facing at the moment, and feel happy to extend you help, that you have-asketl4or. After all, who else but a friend should be approached in time of need ?
I quite understand your financial difficulties and consider myself lucky that I can spare Rs. 10,000/- to help you meet your immediate obligation. Please find enclosed, herewith, a cheque for the specified amount. As for repayment, I shall not expect it, until you get over your present trouble and have some money to spare.
Rest assured that your friend is always with you.
With best wishes and regards to your mother,
Sincerely yours,
Murthy
