Sir,

Our city, Bombay, has been for decades known for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, its co-operative spirit and its civic sense. Developments in the minds and behaviour in the younger section of our society in recent times have raised doubts in our minds as to whether this civic sense which has been our proud possession will be snatched away from us

A look at any bus queue today would convince anybody of the difficulty of the situation. At every bus queue, where in the past lines of patient passengers waited each for his turn, now we see all chaos and anarchy, and everyone tries to push himself to the forefront. Thus old men and old women are the greatest sufferers.

The situation may yet be saved, but once boys of nine and ten develop this habit, there is no coming back.

Yours truly,

A. B. C
