Paragraph on “Who stole the bronze horses?” complete paragraph for Class 9, Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12

Who stole the bronze horses?

You have probably seen photographs of the bronze horses in front of St Mark’s Cathedral in Venice. But do you know their story ?

It is believed that these Greek bronzes once stood on the Emperor Nero’s triumphal arch in Rome. Then they were taken by the Emperor Theodosius to adorn the city of Constantinople, now Istanbul, in the fifth century after Christ. When Constantinople was ransacked by the Christian Crusaders in 1204, the horses were stolen and removed to Venice. Napoleon, in turn, looted them and took them to Paris in 1797. They were restored to the Venetians in 1815.
