Science has provided us with many inventions. Scientists work hard to invent new means and ways of providing us with innumerable comforts in life. The most important among them is electricity and various electrical appliances.

Electricity has changed our lives immensely. Can you imagine a life without electricity? No, no one can.

At home, electricity runs fans and lightens our houses at night. In summer it is used to run coolers. It is used to keep our refrigerators cool to keep our food items fresh. It is used in washing our clothes in a washing machine.

Electricity is used in running other appliances such as radio sets, T.V. sets, computers, telex, transistors.

It runs turbines, machines used for production in factories, and transportation systems such as electric trams, trains, trolleys, and other infrastructures.

It plays an important role in the medical field. X-ray machines, ECG machines, Ultrasound machines, and several other machines help doctors in various ways. Electricity is needed for the lifesaving operations.

Today agriculture is more dependent on electricity. Tube wells, flour mills, and thrashers all need electricity. In the absence of electricity, the process of separating grains from chaff would become slow. And this delay can cause much harm in case the weather changes.

Finally, it can be said that electricity is the lifeline of today. It is needed almost in every sphere of our life. It has made our lives eventful. We should not waste it and try to preserve the sources of electricity.
