Millions of Muslims celebrated Id-Ul-Fitr all over the world with great zeal.

Every devout Muslim, before the actual festival fasts for whole month. This month is known as the Ramzan month. It is of great importance to the Muslims.

During the days of Ramzan, Muslims pray five times a day and give alms and food to the poor. Fasting Muslims eat their meals before sunrise (Sehre) and do not even drink water during the whole day. After sunset (Iftr) they break their fast.

On the last day of the month, they eagerly wait for the moon to appear. The celebration of the Id depends upon the appearance of the moon. On the next day of the moon’s sighting Id is celebrated.

On the Id day markets are tastefully decorated. The Muslims wear new clothes. Men put on cloth caps. They take a bath quite early in the morning and visit the nearby mosque or Idgah to offer prayers to thank the Almighty Allah (God). Then they hug and embrace one another. On this day they have no distinctions between the rich and the poor. All are equal. There prevails the spirit of brotherhood. There is a great rush at shops. They buy sweets. Children buy toys.

Back at home, they take part in a great feast. They also exchange sweets and fine dishes among friends and relatives.

This is perhaps, the only festival in the world that lays the utmost stress on sacrifices and purity of life. Moreover, it teaches us the value of love, sympathy, and brotherhood.
