If you list all the energy that you see around you, you can surely trace their original source back to the sun’s heat energy. For instance, wind energy is caused by the uneven heating of the earth’s surface by the sun. Sea waves are caused to a large extent by the wind. Even the wood that comes in such good use also comes from trees, which need the sun’s heat energy to grow. Oil products are also generated by rotting plants and wood, packed in under great pressure and kept like that for centuries.

As a matter of fact, even rivers, streams and waterfalls are created due to the evaporation caused by the sun’s rays. This evaporated water is then returned to the earth in the form of rain, snow and the like.

The electric energy that runs the various appliances that we have at home also runs on the fossil fuel, generated at power stations and obtained by burning coal.

Make a list of objects that represent the usage of different kinds of energy and those that have their source in the sun’s heat energy.
