Science Project on “Moisture for Germination”, Project Experiment Topics on Human Beings, Animals Plants for Class 8, 9, 10 and 12 Students.

Moisture for Germination

Materials Required:

  1. Eyedropper
  2. Bean seeds
  3. Water
  4. Plastic egg carton
  5. Potting soil
  6. Marking pen
  7. Paper and pencil

Water is essential for the development of a seed into plant. We will carry this task with a bean seed, to see how much water it requires to grow. Hypothesize that a seed will not grow if there is not enough water. This often takes place in nature, when there is a lack of moisture.

Mark the carton pockets from 1 to 12 and fill them up with potting soil. Place a bean seed in each of them. Take an eyedropper in the morning and put a drop of water on the seed marked 1, two drops on the one marked 2, three drops on the 3rd, so on and so forth. Leave the lid open and water the seeds again, after twelve hours in the evening. Continue this for two weeks and note the progress in the seed sprouts.

Did the seed that was given only a drop of water everyday, germinate?

Repeat the activity. Only this time, use two egg cartons instead of one. Keep the lid closed to conserve warmth and moisture. Place one carton of seeds in the sun and the other away from it.

Check the progress and make a note of the changes in the sprouts at the end of two weeks.
