The Cro-Magnon Man
The earliest and the first true form of human beings were the Cro-magnons. It was in South Western France that excavations first revealed the remains of the Cro-magnon man. The scientific name given to this species was Homo Sapiens, Sapiens which meant ‘the very wise man’. Like the Neanderthals the Cro-magnons also lived in caves. In Altamira in Spain and Lascaux in France, various cave paintings created by these people have been found. The Cro-magnons were taller than the Neanderthals with an height of about 5 feet. Their skeletons and bones were also developed in the shapes like those of the modern man. Like the Neanderthals these people also knew how to make tools, however that their tools were of a better quality. They hunted wild animals for food. These people were more intelligent compared to their predecessors and probably came to Europe only after the Ice age.
