Letter from a Lady Breaking off an Engagement
Dear Saurabh,
I am writing to ask you to do a thing which I fear will give you pain, but which, after serious thought I have decided will be best for us both. I wish you to free me from my engagement.
I will be perfectly frank with you. I now know that I never really loved you, and that it was the ardour of your love for me more than any true affection on my part which made me consent marry you.
Here let me say that if ever a woman respected a man , I do you, for I know your qualities. But respect is not love, and marriage without love would to me seem a mokery.
I think you understand me well enough to believe that I am not the kind of girl to make such a decision lightly, especially realizing , as I do, how much means to you so, forgive me if I have hurt you, and do allow me to consider myself always.
Yours sincerely,
Sarika
