Workshop on Art and Handwork
A one-day workshop, on Art and Handwork, was organized by the ‘Jaagran Manch of New Delhi on March 05, 2005. It was a very enlightening experience to attend it. The ‘Kala Kendra of Noida gave all its assistance to the organization of this workshop. The problems concerning the handwork artists were discussed. Speaker after speaker called upon the need for the Govt. to come out with a concrete plan to keep the art of small artists alive. They emphasized that an organized market was the need of the hour for selling the goods made by small artists. They also lauded the efforts of the artisans who had kept their traditional art alive in this age of machines. Sh. 5. Chandra, Secretary of Handicrafts assured to take up the matter at the higher level with the Govt.
