Science Project on “Lighting Up”, Project Experiment Topics on Electricity, Magnetism Gravity for Class 8, 9, 10 and 12 Students.

Lighting Up

Materials Required:

  1. Light from a fluorescent tube
  2. Light from an incandescent bulb
  3. Pencil and paper

Electric energy is converted into light energy, in the case of both fluorescent tubes and incandescent bulbs.

In the case of the latter, electricity goes in through a small wire called the filament, which then gives us the light we need. In the case of the former, it is filled with gas.

The inside of the tube contains materials called Phosphors. When electricity enters the tube, the gas emits rays, which causes the tube to glow.

However, though both the forms of light give us what we need i.e. light, during the conversion from electric energy to light energy, a portion of the energy is lost in the form of heat.

Now the bulb and the tube do not emit the same amount of heat.

In order to find out, which mode is more energy-efficient, move to a bulb and hold your thermometer approximately 2.5 cm away from it.

Maintain the process for extremely three minutes and after that record the temperature that is being displayed.

After that, repeat the same process before a tube and record that temperature too. Now compare the two readings.
