Letter to father describing a quarrel in the street.

Revered father,

Received your letter last week. I am really very sorry for not having replied to your letter earlier. The delay in dropping the letter was due to an unpleasant happening in our street.

The engagement of Mr. Sethi’s son took place a few days ago. Their neighbour Mrs. Aggarwal spread a rumour that the girl is black, short stature and of loose morals. This irritated Mrs. Sethi. She came to Aggarwal’s house and caught Mrs. Aggarwal by the neck. They exchanged hot words and blows and tore each other’s hair. Mrs. Aggarwal bit Mrs. Sethi’s thumb. She cried in pain which brought her husband to the scene. Mr. Aggarwal too had returned from his office. Both sided with their wives. They came out with laths and struck each other. Mr. Aggarwal’s head started bleeding on receiving a merciless blow. He fell down unconscious. The police was informed and Mr. Aggarwal was removed to the hospital.

As a good neighbour it was our moral duty to go to the hospital every day to see Mr. Aggarwal’s condition. We are neither siding with either party nor are we involved in this affair. My mummy is maintaining good health. Rest is O.K.

Yours affectionately,
