Post Office

The post – office is very helpful to us. Through post office, we send and receive our letters. Penny –postage was introduced in India in 1963 by Lord Dalhousie in Great Britain. The post office is run by the Government of India. So many employees such as post master, post peon, etc. are employed in post office.

There is a post box hanging in front of the post office. The people put their letters into the letter box. The post peon collects the letters from the box and packs it. Then this package is sent to the head office of the postal department. There, the letters are separated according to the place they are to be sent.

There are post tickets, money order forms, etc. sold in the office. People also save their money in the post office. Thus the post office serves a great. The post office uses certain pin code numbers in different places. If we write these pin code numbers on the letter clearly there is less chance of missing of the letter.

At the end, we may say that the post office is an important medium for sending, receiving letters and saving money, etc. The Government of India has declared some saving schemes for the sick and the retired people. The postal department has allowed the post office to deal with the money saved by the public.  So the post office plays a vital role in our country.
