Action Speaks Louder Than Words

‘Action speaks louder than words’ is an age-old proverb with a deep hidden meaning. Many people have the habit of talking with too much pride about something that they can or have done. They like to boast about what great they are going to achieve in the future. There are people who have the habit of making plans that can never come true. They continuously show self-importance, pride and arrogance that they have achieved a great milestone without actually achieving anything.

It is extremely important to remember that if our achievements are worth noticing and mentioning, people will surely come to know about them and will praise us. It is better to work hard with determination in achieving our dreams rather than merely feeling proud about it. If for example, you are a good student and you keep on saying that you will top in the class, it will not give you the respect that you will earn when this fact actually comes true. However, without boasting if you come first in class, it will be known by everyone and you will gain more honour and praise.

World’s great personalities always dreamt of achieving big. They never boasted about attaining something big even though they were highly capable of achieving more than what they dreamt. They were aware that they could achieve more than they wished but never showed off about their hidden talents and qualities. They were always humble.

The day you achieve what you dreamt and what you worked for, your action will automatically speak louder than your words. You will no longer have to explain and give details of your achievements. The world will come to know on its own. Take an example of great national leader Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji achieved remarkable results in his works but never boasted about the fact that his leadership brought changes in India. Here the proverb, ‘action speaks louder than words’ can be suitably applied.

Do not just say that I will change the world, do your part in changing the world and success will soon follow you. If you are determined to bring about the change, your efforts will be known by all However, we must keep a single fact in mind that we must not boast about anything before or after achieving it. Pride can kill and reduce the value of any success. One must follow their dreams and try to achieve the desired goal through dedication, honesty and hard-work. By doing this, one day your actions will definitely speak louder than your words.
