A Soldier

Lord Tennyson’s immortal lines sum up the very life of a soldier:

Theirs’ not to make reply,

Theirs’ not to reason why,

Theirs’ but to do and die.

Selflessness and sacrifice form the foundation of a. soldier’s life. He awakes to protect our country while we enjoy sleep. He remains vigilant and guards us from any aggression from outside forces. Through his sacrifice and devotion he keeps the goddess of freedom smiling. He keeps peace intact so that his country may flourish by leaps and’ bounds.

When the war breaks out his duties increase manifold. He faces the bullets spends day and night at high altitudes to give the enemies a befitting reply. In peace time he is called up to assist the civil authorities. During natural calamities his services become indispensable. We are because Of him. Thus we see that a soldier lives for the country and -dies for the country. He sticks to his post, come what may. He prefers to get bullets on his chest and not on his back. He is velour incarnation.

He protects us from strikes, within and without. He sheds his blood to keep the flag of the nation high. He does nothing which can cast aspersion on his very existence.

A soldier is the watchdog of the nation. His life is rough and tough full of arduous and hard work. For a considerable period of time he remains away from his home but he never grumbles. He deserves all respect and honour. His compensation is meager as compared to his responsibilities. His lot should be improved. Every possible help should be extended to his daring family which has sent him in the tunnel of death all smilingly. Hats off to a soldier.
