            He was born on November 14, 1889, at Allahabad. His father Shri Motilal Nehru was a Leading Lawyer in his town. He was brought up like a prince. After his early education at home by an English tutor, he was sent to England for higher studies. He took his degree in Law from England and returned to India as a barrister.

            Mahatma Gandhi and other great leaders of the Indian freedom movement were trying to free our motherland from the yoke of foreign rule. Pt. Nehru came in contact with Mahatma Gandhi. He also joined this struggle for freedom. He spent these parts of his life in jails. He lost his beloved wife- Kamla Nehru. He brought up his only daughter Indira will greatly love and affection.

            On Jan. 26, 1929, under his President-ship of the congress, the Independence resolution was passed at the Lahore session. He was the author of the Quit India Resolution. When India got Independence on August 15, 1947, Pt. Nehru was the Prime Minister of free India.

            As Prime Minister, Pt. Nehru worked very hard. He followed the policy of Nonalignment. He asked the youth of the country to work hard to make India a great nation in the world. Even at his advanced age, he worked extremely hard which made even the young man blush. He earned a great name and fame as the top leader of the world. He was no doubt this apostle of peace.

            Nehru truly speaking was a great lover of children who loved him dearly and called him Chacha Nehru, It is due to his great love for children and children’s love for him. His birthday on Nov. 14 is celebrated as ‘Children Day! In the country every year. He was a great writer, his autobiography’ Glimpses of World History, Letters of a father to his Daughter all are some of his books which are acclaimed and worldwide. On May 27, 1964, he breathed his last.

Jawahar Lal Nehru

Worthy son of a worthy father (Pt. Moti Lal Nehru), Pt. Jawaher Lal Nehru was really the jewel of India. If Mahatma Gandhi is the Father of the Indian Nation, Jawahar Lal Nehru is the architect (maker) of modern India. He was the first Prime Minister of free India. He was much respected and admired not only in the country but also in the whole world. No other Indian leader influenced domestic and international politics as much as Nehru did. He had a charming personality.

Pt. Nehru was born at Allahabad on November 14, 1889, in a rich Kashmiri family.  His father Pandit Moti. Lal Nehru was an eminent lawyer and one of India’s Patriots. Young Nehru was not put to any school. He was taught at home. At the age of sixteen, he was sent to England. He was educated at Harrow and Cambridge in  England. After taking a degree in science he studied law for two years and returned to India as a barrister. He began to work as a lawyer in Allahabad High Court. But he was not interested in this profession. He wanted to serve his country and his countrymen. In 1916 he was married to Kamla Kaul. In 1924, she was seriously, ill so she was taken to Europe where she died on February 29, 1936.

He was impressed very much by Mahatma Gandhi. He became a fearless soldier of the freedom struggle. He spent his youth period in jails. He joined the Non-cooperation Movement started by Gandhiji. He gave to practice. He went to jail several times he bore punishment happily. Jail life would not crush his spirit. He acted as Congress President in four different years before India became free.

Pt., Nehru was a great orater. His speeches were very impressive and inspiring. He was also an eminent writer. He was the author of many books. In prison, he spent his time serving his country, by writing books. His books are well-known all over the world.

It was under his presidentship of the Congress that Independence Resolution was passed at the Lahore session on 26th January 1929. He was the author of ‘Quit India Resolution. He was born rich but he was thoroughly a socialist.

He shaped India’s history. It is under his leadership that India has achieved so much progress. India has become self–sufficient in food. He took a keen interest in Industrialization. He established steel plants with foreign help. He started five-year plans. In fact, he fought against hunger, poverty, disease, and unemployment.

He had faith in most of the principles of Gandhiji. So he became the greatest apostle of peace in the world. As the Prime Minister of free India, he worked for peace. But he felt a crude shock when China attacked India in September 1962, India pleaded for China in the world but China stabbed India in the back. Nehru was a great soldier of freedom. Nehru did not like to join any group. He preferred to be independent in the world. Nehru launched Non- aligned movement. Now there are 108 country members of non-aligned movements in the world.

Pt. Nehru died on May 27, 1964. Nehru’s death was a big shock to all peace-loving people of the world. The Nation lost its great man and a great patriot. His place would be very difficult to fill. He was a great friend of the poor. He was the servant of the people. He lived for the good of his country.

Mr. Jawahar Lal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India and a grist rank freedom fighter. He was the most beloved of Mahatma Gandhi for his qualities of head heart and soul. He was the son of great Pandit Moti Lal Nehru, a onetime President of the Indian National Congress.                 

Mr. Nehru was born in Allahabad. It was an aristocratic family but highly dedicated to the cause of the freedom of India. Pandit Moti Lal Nehru was a high-ranking lawyer of that time and so young Jawahar Lal was educated in England. He passed out from harrow school and Cambridge University. It was his father Moti Lal who brought him up to the highest standards of that time and finally sent him to polities. He became an active disciple of Mahatma Gandhi and took an active part in the freedom struggle. He was sent to British Jail many times. His wife Kamla Nehru, to whom he was married in 1916 was also an active partner in the freedom struggle.

Jawahar Lal Nehru was an ardent ph8ilosopher, writer, orator statesman, and a politician all in one. He was an authority on the history and historical matters. He is the author of many reputed books like “Discovery of India”, “Glimpses of World History”. His being busy in polities and world affairs have deprived the world of a great writer. His style of writing and oration is worth the name.

Nehru as a leader has very soon recognized the world for his ability and control over the affairs he handled. Soon after he joined the freedom struggle. Both the Britishers and the Indian people pinned him up to take responsibility for the country even before India was free. In 1946 he first headed the Interim government formed by the Indian National Congress with the active support of other parties. He had already served as President of the Indian National Congress four times.

Being the top-ranking leader of the country he was made the first Prime Minister of India under the patronage of the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. He took over from the British and was first to hoist the flag of Independent India on Red Fort on  15th August 1947 at 12 mid- night. He vigorously took the reins of the country and worked day and night to lay the foundations of Independent India. He did the work so efficiently that he is rightly called the architect of Modern India. He sought the help of all the friendly countries to build the infrastructure of this country. he started with a five-year plan of development. It was a great success. He was virtually the king and benefactor of India. His word was law. India was able to make a high prestige in the world community under his dynamic leadership. He became a leader in world politics. He gave the slogan PANCH- SHEEL to India and the world.  It all ended on May 27, 1964, when he breathed his last peacefully and the whole world mourned his death. India is yet to produce a leader of his capacity and caliber.

The able daughter of this leader Smt. Indira Gandhi served as Prime Minister of India for eleven years with great success and ability.

As an architect of modem India and a doughty champion of World Peace, Jawaharlal Nehru is immortalized in history. Nehru came to be respected as a world statesman for his policies of peace, secularism, and non-interference in any country’s internal affairs. Nehru first appeared on the national political horizon in 1912 and in 1916, he came into contact with his political teacher, Mahatma Gandhi. Since then he continuously assisted Gandhiji in various, movements that he launched during the freedom struggle. Nehru was imprisoned frequently during the freedom movement and he spent a total of 17 years in jail. He was elected President of Indian National Congress five times and it was under the Presidentship of Nehru that Congress adopted the famous resolution of complete independence at its Lahore session in 1929. Nehru was also the main architect of Congress’s victory in the 1937 election of Provincial Assemblies. When the country gained freedom in 1947, Nehru became its first Prime Minister. Nehru laid a strong foundation for the economic and industrial progress of the country. Nehru pursued non-alignment in the international sphere. The non-alignment movement was founded by Nehru together with Col. Nasser of Egypt and Marshal Tito of Yugoslavia in 1961.

Nehru was born on 14th November 1889, in Allahabad (U.P.). His father Motilal Nehru was a famous lawyer and great patriot. He was educated in England. Jawaharlal Nehru got his early education at home. Then he went to England for higher studies. He returned to India in 1912. Later he became a lawyer.

He gave up his practice and joined the freedom movement under Mahatma Gandhi. He was totally involved in India’s freedom movement.

He was sent to jail several times. In 1947 when India became free, he was elected the first Prime Minister.

He was a great statesman, idealist, and dreamer. He has written many books. He worked hard to serve his country.

Pandit Nehru loved children. And the children called him Chacha Nehru with love. He always liked and enjoyed the company of children. He always wore a rose in his dress. His birthday is now celebrated as Children’s Day.

India made great progress under his leadership. He died on 27th May 1964. He was one of the builders of modern India. We always remember him fondly.

Jawaharlal Nehru

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was arguably one of the best statements the world has seen. He was the first Prime Minister of India and was considered so even during the making of the Constitution. He was seen as the Prime Minister of Independent India as well as the leader of the Congress. He was credited for his Objective Resolutions which in a real sense laid the foundation of the Constitution.

Nehru was the Chairman of the Union Constitution Committee of the Constituent Assembly. He introduced the Right to Property under Article 31 of the Constitution which was adopted by the Constituent Assembly. But this article was removed in the year 1978 by 44th Amendment and by the same amendment Chapter IV was inserted in Part-XII for such right to property. Pandit Nehru remained the Prime Minister till he died in 1964.

Jawahar Lal Nehru

Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was born in a rich family. He was the son of Pt. Moti Lal Nehru, one of the leading lawyers of India. Jawaharlal was tutored at home. Afterwards he got educated at harrow and Cambridge in England. On his re- turn to India he decided to join the freedom movement and led. India to independence. He was closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi.

After India’s freedom he become the first Prime Minister and shaped India’s destiny during the long period of seventeen years he remained Prime Minister.

During freedom struggle he joined hands with Bapuji. Several times he was jailed but his struggle for freedom couldn’t be crushed. He was chosen the President of Indian National Congress. On 26th January, 1930, INC passed the resolution for complete independence of India.

On 15th August, 1947 India got freedom from foreign rule. He was the first P. M. of free India. He died in harness. Till his death on 27th May, 1964 he occupied the position of Prime Ministership.

He was, like M. K. Gandhi, an apostle of peace. He desired that all the nations of the world should live in peace and harmony. He always raised his voice against the oppressors. He was a good orator. He was listened to with great respect in the Parliaments all over the world.

He also wrote several books. He loved children who lovingly called him Chacha Nehru. He followed Bapu’s path of nonviolence and peaceful co-existence. He too fought against communalism, illiteracy and ignorance.

He led the nation to stability through hard times. The news of his death shocked the entire world. He was survived by his daughter, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. He was a brave, fearless and able son of Mother India.
