69th Independence day was celebrated in Govt. Model High School, Sector-34-C, Chandigarh with fervor. Dr. Vinod Sharma, the head of the institution hoisted national flag and gave a speech laying emphasis on the importance of Independence day. Salute was given by the scouts and Guides. The students performed play, sang patriotic songs, poems, dance and speeches on the occasion of Independence day. The students passionately participated in the programme. The programme closed with the speech of Dr. Sharma stressing on Country’s progress and rich cultural heritage. He paid tribute to our national heroes who sacrificed their lives for our motherland. He also told the students to do their duty sincerely and study hard to achieve their goal. He said illiteracy is the biggest enemy of any nation. Let us get rid of illiteracy and take India to a bright future. The students were asked to update themselves for facing the coming challenges and to make the country a leading nation in the world. The students pledged to harness their collective wisdom in uplifting the nation and taking India to new height . Students were distributed ladoos after the function.
