The 66th Republic Day was celebrated in Govt. Model High School sector 34-C, Chandigarh with immense enthusiasm and fervor. Dr. Vinod Sharma, the head of the institution, unfurled the national tri-color and addressed the occasion. The Staff members, scouts & guides and students attended the function. Dr. Sharma addressed the students by recalling the sacrifices of millions of freedom fighters and unsung martyrs. He threw light on making a permanent constitution of India’s own instead of functioning under the laws of British. It was followed by cultural program by the students. Group song was sung by the students of class 7th and 8th students. Speeches stressing the importance of the day were delivered in Hindi, Punjabi and English AND Krishan Chander of class 8th gave a message on PM’s ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’. Various items like a patriotic poems, songs, bhangra, giddha, skits etc. were put up by the students which showed their country’s love. In the end, national anthem was sung and Dr. Sharma told the students that they should grow with wholesome personality maintaining the unity in diversity amongst them. Ladoos were distributed among the students after the function.
