10 Lines on “Independence Day”

1. August 15 is celebrated all over India as Independence Day.

2. It was on this day in 1947 that India got her freedom from British rule.

3. Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar Patel, and many others, fought for India’s freedom in a non-violent way.

4. No weapons were used. The leaders had to go to jail many times and suffered much for the sake of our country.

5. August 15 is a national holiday in India. Children gather in schools to celebrate the day.

6. Speeches are given, and there is a flag-hoisting ceremony.

7. Then there is a march-past and all the children salute the flag as they pass by it.

8. The National Anthem and other patriotic songs are sung and many programmes are held all over the country.

9. Every Indian should feel proud on Independence Day.

10. We should take a pledge to live happily with each other and not fight over small issues. Only then can we make India strong.
