Public Meetings

Public meetings are a common sight in our country. These meetings are essential for democracy to work. People can only cooperate if they sit together and work.

People discuss their problems and find a way to solve them. We have the constitutional right to speak. We cannot impose our views on anyone. Like us, they have the right to speak. We have to hear different views and then arrive at a decision. Public meetings are not a battle. Here we do not fight instead we win friends and put across our points of view in a logical and concise manner. It is not always smooth sailing and there are times when hot words are exchanged between participants

On average, most public meetings are peaceful and successful. They are a forum where diverse opinions on important issues are expressed. They are the best forum to expressing unhappiness and discontent about issues concerning the welfare of society. We can say that public meetings are the voice of people.

However, public meetings have off lately been used as a platform to spread hatred and wrong information by narrow-minded people. They take advantage of most people’s ignorance and inability to understand large issues of welfare to sow seeds of social discontent in society. Such people are experts in the art of double talk. They can at best be described as liars. Such people make use of people’s innocence and act against their interests. They misguide people and often do not give people time to think about their welfare. They treat people like a herd of cattle. Instead of people’s government, wily leaders have made the democracy into a leader’s government.

They have transformed public meetings, which are slowly becoming the graves of democracy.
