Thanks for your letter, conveying timely warning to improve myself in my studies, before it is too late to overcome the damage. Frankly speaking, I am too ashamed of my performance in my first terminal examination. Taking up full blame for this setback, I have no hesitation to confess that I did not work hard this time owing to the company of some undesirable elements. Now I realize how foolish I had been all this while ! But I assure you that I am a totally changed personality now. To have ignored my future was a great folly, indeed !

Papa, I shall like to assure you with all sincerity that I shall  never let you down in future. Please give me a chance to mend  myself. I shall try my best to compensate for the loss by burning the midnight oil incessantly and come out with flying colours in the next examination. I request you to forgive my negligence in the past and encourage me with your blessings for the success in my renewed efforts.

Would you be kind enough to assure dear Mom that I have promised to improve myself and show better results in future ?
