Dear Kavita,

Early morning edition of the The Times of India today left me completely shocked, dazed and bewildered. The front page carried the headline ‘DELHI BOUND RAJDAHANI FROM KOLKATA GOT DERAILED BEFORE MUGHAL SARAI, DEATH TOLL FEARED TO BE HIGH.’ What I could not believe was the inclusion of the name of your dear father in the list of the dead !

I know nothing can be more shocking for all of you than the news of the sudden, sad demise of dear uncle. It is, undoubtedly, a jolt from the blue. How can such a kind, humanitarian person be a victim of such a tragic incident ? It shows that the ways of God are really strange.

While expressing my heartfelt condolence on this great tragedy, I pray for his soul to rest in peace with the Almighty. May He give you, your respected mother and all the members of the family the courage to bear this great, irreparable loss !
