When I Lost My Purse

Last Sunday I decided to go shopping. I took my shopping bag and my small purse and set out. I reached Chandni Chowk and I paid the scooter driver as I got off the scooter. I went into Cottage Industries emporium and I bought a few things from there. After paying my bills at the counter and collecting my parcels I left the big shop. My hands were full of things and as I did not have my car I had to carry all my purchases and walk all over the marketplace. I felt very hungry after a while and I went into a Haldiram’s restaurant and ordered a dosa. The man brought the dosa, I ate it and as I was about to leave I realized that I did not have any money to pay my bill. I had lost my purse. There was no limit to my embarrassment as I explained to the waiter and then to the manager of the restaurant that I had lost my purse. The manager was most unsympathetic and he started accusing me of trying to walk away without paying for my meal. I felt miserable. I was near tears when I saw a figure entering the restaurant. This was my uncle walking into the restaurant. His office was close by and he had come in for a cup of coffee. He saw me looking scared and in a state of panic. When I told him the story he comforted me, paid the bill, and walked out of the restaurant with me. He gave me money for the scooter to go back home in and I thanked God for having sent uncle to save my face on that unfortunate day when I lost my purse.
