Letter to the Principal of the School regarding the insistence for tuitions.

Aug. 11, 2003

To,

The Principal,

Sardar Patel High School,

New Delhi.

Sir,

This might come to you as a news, but to me, it was more of a shock, having being myself a student of this reputed alma mater, when my son started to insist on tuition provided by your reputed faculty. My son, Suraj, who had quite a brilliant academic record, till this half-yearly exams, but then, there was a substantial drop in his percentage. When I enquired from him, he initially refused to reply and then wanted to take tuition for some subjects, in which he is normally good. This got me wondering as to why he needed tuitions, since his mother is quite efficient in handling her son. With further probing, I came to know that he has been harassed for taking tuitions, and even awarded less marks in order to coerce him into taking tuitions. All these things have affected my son in such a way that, he now seriously wants tuition or else he will not study at home. My head hangs in shame on the same alma-mater of which I was once proud of. This itself speaks volume about the deteriorating state of your school. In principle, I have already decided to withdraw my son from this school once the final exams are over. Yet I feel that as a responsible parent, I must being this to your notice, so that you can take any preventive measure you feel fit.

Thanking you.

Yours Sincerely,

Lalan Kumar
