Five Important Persons of My Village
The five big guns or important persons of my village are the Headmaster of the Government Primary School, the Sarpanch,” the Doctor of the Government Dispensary, the Moneylender and the Grocer.
In the modern villages, there are more than five important persons in each village. But I’ll give a brief descri ption of five of them.
The Headmaster of the Government Primary School is held in high esteem. It is because the school is the only place where the villagers’ children can get education. In the modern era, the villagers know that education is a must for their children even if they themselves are illiterate or almost so. Moreover, the headmaster is a polite, learned man who sometimes helps them in reading and interpreting letters, documents, etc.
The Sarpanch has a big say in the village affairs. He heads the Panchayat that decides minor disputes and also uses government funds for the development of the village. In certain cases, the villagers have to get the signatures of the sarpanch on some documents before they can be considered valid.
The doctor of the government dispensary is an important person in the village. Whenever any villager falls ill, he has to go to the dispensary where he is treated by the doctor.
The Moneylender holds a high place in every village. It is because in case of an urgent need, the villagers have to go to him for money, Of course, now they can get loans from banks, but that takes time. In case of an emergency, they have to depend upon the moneylender even if he charges exorbitant rates of interest.
The villagers can’t do without the grocer or bania. He is the person who supplies them all the essential commodities, and that mostly on credit. That is why they can’t ignore him.
