Teacher’s Day

Teacher’s day is celebrated on every 5th September. On this day one of the foremost teacher, philosopher and great writer S. Radhakrishnan was born. This day is celebrated to commemorate his birthday and the ideals for which he stood for all his life. Before he became the President of India he was a great teacher, the Government of India has designated the 5th of September as the teacher’s day.

Various schools across the country celebrate this day in their own inimitable style. Some schools honour their past and present teachers; others invite the senior students to run the school for that day. There are cultural functions in which the teachers take part and there are sports day for the teachers. The teachers and the principal relax on this day. In all parents, students and society as a whole express their gratitude to the teachers.

Many schools take this opportunity to discuss the future course of their schools. They organize Parents-Teachers meetings and invite suggestion to improve the quality of the education, other information and skills that are imparted to the students.

They invite reputed academicians, educationists and thinkers to speak to the teachers, parents and students. The school management introduces new schemes for the welfare of the school teachers. It also announces special concessions for the teachers.

The nation pays tribute to teachers by honouring their services to the society. The Government of India organizes an official function in which it bestows honours on teachers selected from across the length and breadth of the country for their meritorious services. The Government on this often announces new policies regarding the schools and the teachers. They give special privileges to the teachers for the various services like transports, housing, insurance, etc.

The teacher’s day is thus used by us to remind ourselves of the contribution of the teachers for the upliftment of the society and the formation of the future generation.
