A free Press can serve a nation well. Press must be strictly impartial and it should not present views of a biased pattern. A responsible Press can serve the nation well and therefore such a press is the crying need of the hour. In India there are now independent news-agencies. They function without any sort of interference from the side of the government.

In every democracy the people and the government need the co-operation of each other. A free nation must have a free Press.

The newspapers are a source of information to the public. Therefore, there should be no censorship on the Press at all. If the Press becomes a tool in the hands of government, then there is no way out for the nation and it cannot survive at all. In Germany, the Press became a tool in the hands of the government. Therefore, the freedom of the nation came to an end and the Nazi regime had its sway.

Therefore, it is necessary for every democracy to give entire freedom to the Press. The Press can serve a nation well when it is free from all pressure.
