Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Prime Minister of India, was born on December 25, 1924. He was born at Shinde Cantt. In Madhya Pradesh. He is an illustrious son of Shri Krishan Behari Vajpayee and Smt. Krishna Devi. In his school days he was a member of R.S.S. Later be become its active ‘Pracharak’. He was also the founder member of former Janasangh’ a political party founded by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.

Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s father sent him to Gwalior to get higher education. Shri Vajpayee passed his B.A. from Victoria College, Gwalior. There he learnt the art of politics. He was the leader of the students. Union of college. Sh. Vajpayee rose to eminence when he became the P.M. of India on 19th March 1998. He is the fourteenth P.M. His government is supported by Samata party, Shiv Sena, Akali Dal, Lok Shakti and some other parties.

He is a devout Hindu. He is a great scholar. He is a true patriot. He is a giant among politicians. He is regarded a non-controversial figure in Indian politics. Even his political enemies hold him in great honours. Shri Inderjit Gupta, a CPM leader, says he is a right man in the wrong party. Sh. Chander Shakher and Sh. P.V. Narasimha Rao take him to be their ‘Guru’. Sh. Ram Vilas Paswan and other political leaders felt charmed by his forceful and unmatched speeches. He is an eloquent speaker. He is a great orator who has a choice of words with sweet touch of sarcasm and humour, depths of his thoughts and wisdom. He is a good judge of people’s moods.

He is a dynamic personality. He is also a great thinker writer, journalist and critic. At heart, he is a poet. He is a great supporter of Hindi but also loves other Indian languages. He was also conferred upon ‘Govind Vallabh Pant’ title for being adjudged the best Parliamentarian by the former ruling party congress. It was a great moment of national pride and glory when India conducted nuclear tests at Pokhran on May 11, 1998, under his Prime Ministership. Vajpayee strongly believes in the security of his country. He took the right decision at the right moment to tell the world that India could no longer be afraid to ignore her national security.
