As You Sow, So Shall You Reap

Essay No. 01

It is a law of nature that a person will reap what he sows. All the religious books like the Bhagwad Gita, the Bible, and the Quran teaches us to do the right deeds, because then only in return do we get the fruit of happiness. It is only the right deed that fetches the results. In a layman’s words, one will get a reward according to one’s deeds. One will get good results only if one has done good deeds whereas one will get bad results if one has worked dishonestly. Those who work hard, rest in life. While the lazy, remain in self-created misery. The Father of Our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi firmly believed in this dictum, and he preached the path of truth and nonviolence.

As you so, so you Reap

Our actions and their results are closely related to each other. While virtuous deeds lead to pleasant outcomes, evil ones invariably cause pain and misery. But, people generally ignore this reality and worry unnecessarily about the future. It is usually forgotten that the nature of our future life depends a great deal on the way we live in the present. Success in life is less the result of a divine blessing than of such qualities as hard work, courage, fortitude, and the determination to overcome challenges. Whenever we criticize circumstances for our troubles, we should not forget that our troubles may be due to our own faults and mistakes. In other words, what we get maybe what we deserve.
