Science Project on “Trapping Solar Heat”, Project Experiment Topics on Environmental Science for Class 8, 9, 10 and 12 Students.

Trapping Solar Heat

Materials Required:

  1. Five glasses of the same size
  2. Water
  3. Construction papers of different colors
  4. Adhesive tape
  5. Thermometer

Energy from sunlight makes heat. Light from the sun is trapped when it hits an object, making it warm, but it bounces back after hitting something light.

Take five glasses of water filled to the brim and wrap a black construction paper around one. Similarly, wrap a different colored paper around each of the remaining glasses and tape them.

Place all the glasses by a window where the sun comes in and put a thermometer in one glass after the first hour.

Read the temperature and write it down. Repeat the temperature reading of all the four glasses and make a note.

Is the water glass wrapped in black, warmer than the rest? Find out which glass of water is the coolest?

Check and see if a dark coloured liquid like coffee heats faster than milk or water.
