Bering Sea

Bering Sea was found in the year 1728 by a Danish Li navigator Vitus Bering, in Russia. Hence, the sea got the name after its founder. The total area covered by this sea is 22,91,900 square kilometer, with its average depth of 1,547 meter and its deepest point is Buldir islands with a depth of 4,773 meters. Bering Sea consists of several submarines and canyons. It has the world’s largest canyon too. The Bering Sea is a home to endangered variety of Whale species like, Bowhead Whale, Blue Whale, Fin Whale, Sei Whale, Humpback Whale, Sperm Whale and the rarest in the worlds. The North Pacific Right Whale is also found here. Other marine mammals include Walrus, Steller Sea Lion, Northern Fur Seal, Beluga Orca and Polar Bear are also found here.
