Vishwakarma, the god of architecture and engineering, is offered puja in the month of September by most of the industrial houses, artists and weavers.
According to mythology, the whole universe including earth and heaven are created by Vishwakarma. The credit for inventing Vajra and other weapons of early civilization goes to Vishwakarma. Vishwakarma is regarded as the supreme worker, the very essence of excellence and quality in craftsmanship.
Vishwakarma is also the creator of sciences of industry to man. The shops, workshops, industries or factories are cleaned and decorated to welcome the deity Lakshmi. Thenprasad is distributed among the visitors. The yearly feast is cooked and served to both workmen as well as owners. Children also celebrate the day by flying kites throughout the day. Vishwakarma Puja is an inspiration for many to create new products and increase productivity for the working class.
