Paragraph on “Light from the Moon” complete paragraph for Class 9, Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12

Light from the Moon

Since ancient times it was believed that the Moon had light of it’s own. As time passed many myths about the Moon were cleared. The Moon has a 1/4,25,00th brightness as compared to the Sun. The light we see from the Moon on clear nights is in fact only a reflection of the Sun’s light, in other words the Moon acts merely as a mirror which reflects the Sun’s rays towards the Earth. The time taken by the Moon to rotate on it’s axis is almost equal to the time it takes to revolve around the Earth, thus we only one of it’s sides. The Moon has a day which is 14 Earth days rest is called a Lunar night. During the Lunar day the surface a soar to over 115′ centigrade and during Lunar nights the drop to as low as —1600 centigrade. This is so because the Moon does not have an atmosphere to filter the rays of the Sun or to retain heat on the surface.
