10 Lines on “Independence Day-15 August”

1. On 15 August 1947, India got its independence. This day has a special significance for all Indians.

2. It reminds us of the lives that were sacrificed to help us get freedom from the British.

3. Several attempts had been made in the long struggle to get freedom; the Sepoy Mutiny was one such attempt, which was crushed.

4. But in the early half of the 20th century, the Indian National Congress became a strong party.

5. Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, Motilal Nehru, C.R. Das, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, and many other freedom fighters went to jail many times.

6. They fought for freedom in a non-violent manner, using non-cooperation as a means to attain their ends.

7. The British tried over and over again to suppress the Indians, but the desire for freedom was so strong that no one wanted to quit fighting for their rights.

8. Finally Gandhiji started the ‘Quit India Movement’ in 1942. The people of India wholeheartedly followed his slogan of ‘Do or Die’ and this gave them the courage to lay down their lives for their country.

9. On 15 August 1947 the Indian flag was hoisted with great pride, and each year, this day is celebrated with joy.

10. Homage is paid to those who sacrificed their lives for this great cause.
