Essay on – The Teacher’s Day

In India, Teacher’s day is celebrated on 5th September every year. On this day one of the foremost teachers, Philosopher and great writer was born. This day is celebrated in his honour. Before Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan became the President of India he was a great teacher. In his honour the Government of India has designated the 5th of September as the teacher’s day.

All over the country schools celebrate this day in their own way. On this day many schools honour their past and present teachers. In some school’s senior students are invited to run the school for that day. In some school’s cultural functions are organized or there are sports and games day for the teachers.

The teaches and the principal relax on this day after giving charge to senior students to run the school for that day. In some states dedicated teachers are honored with prizes, merit certificates, or cash or cheques.

In some school, teachers and parents hold meetings on the improvement of the quality of education. Some schools invite noted academicians, educationists and philosophers to speak to the staff, the students and the parents. The school management announces the introduction of new schemes for the welfare of the school teachers.

This day, the nation pays tribute to teachers by honoring their services to the students and the society. The Government of India organizes an official function in which it be- stows honours of teachers chosen from all the states and union Territories for the meritorious services. On this day the government often announcement new policies regarding schools and teachers.

The Teacher’s day reminds us of the contribution of the teachers for the upliftment of society through the formation of the future generation of the students.
