The Saddest Day in My Life-English Essay, Paragraph, Speech for Class 9, 10, 11 and 12 Students.

The Saddest Day in My Life

Life is nothing but a sum total of various events and happenings. Some of these happenings and events give us happiness and satisfaction. We want to preserve them in our memory, while there are others which bring sadness and disappointment. One likes to forget such events. It is the very nature of the events of a day that makes it important or otherwise. There have been days in my life, the memories associated with which still give me pleasure and consolation. But there is a day in my life which I would like to forget.

One day the school was closed. The offices were also closed. Every member of the family whether male or female, was at home. All of us were in a light mood. My father had decided to take all of us to a concert arranged by a few film artists. We were happy. But the fate was laughing at all of us. It had something quite different in store for us.

My mother prepared delicious dishes like Samosas, Pakoras and Halwa for our breakfast. All of us were chattering and the sweet songs were listened to by us from Vivid Bharati. While we were thus making the best use of a holiday, the postman knocked at the door. He handed over a telegram to my father. When my father read it, his face fell immediately. He broke the news of the untimely and sad demise of my father’s elder brother. This spread the sadness over all of us. We had to give up the idea of moving out.

My father sent my younger brother to Moti Bagh to inform our uncle about this sad news. On the way, the bus he had boarded met an accident. We came to know of it only after four hours when the Loknayak Hospital authorities informed us on phone that my younger brother was admitted in the hospital. He had sustained grievous injuries. We moved to the hospital. Tears welled up in my eyes when I saw my younger brother groaning in pain. My father was also extremely sad.

As soon as we reached home, my sisters and brothers asked many questions about the condition of my younger brother. While I was thus answering to their queries and giving them satisfaction, I heard the call of my elder brother’s most intimate friend, Mr. Gyan Chandra. He was wearing a very gloomy look. When he came in and saw all of us plunged into sorrow, he got perplexed. A conflict went on in his mind because he had still something bad to relate to all of us. When I asked him why he was feeling so uneasy, he told me that my brother had failed in the competitive test he had taken up two or three months back. The news of the accident was also broken to him. He also felt very much sad.

I was sitting in a lonely corner of my drawing room. I was thinking over the important role fate or luck plays in one’s life. I was trying to rationalise things and preparing myself to bear any more sad news and events. Thank God, this was all for the day. But the day had brought in sufficient number of bad and sad news to coax me to remember this day for all times to come.
