‘Child is the father of man’. The education of a child starts right from her early childhood. He is taught elementary skills and the three R’s, that is reading, writing, and arithmetic. Up to sixth class parents and teachers pay much of their time on his education. But when he comes to higher classes, he seems to lack much interest in studies. This is because of the increased burden of books.

A student who reads on his own does not lack interest in studies. He is more and more interested in his studies. Apart from his own books which help him in various ways. His knowledge increases. He has a good vocabulary and a style of writing. For him attending school is necessary. He is always in the good books of his parents and teachers. He wins certificates of merits in debates, essay competitions, and so on. For him student life is enjoyable. Most of his time is spent on studies. He respects his teachers and elders.

Those students who are not regular in studies lag behind. They get poor marks. They play truant. For them, student life is boring and burdensome.

It is the duty of parents and teachers to guide such students with love and affection and help them to love books else they would go astray and join bad company.

The life of the student is not a bed of roses nor of thorns. But he has to be motivated towards his studies. He should be given moral lessons and books of great men to read. Hard work, perseverance, and sincerity lead to success in a student’s life. It is a continuous process. Those who work hard with an aim in life are always successful in life.

They enjoy life in later years. They are respected by the people. They become good citizens. A good citizen is an asset to the country.
