He had established his rule at Dwarka. He took a leading part in the Mahabharta war, when Arjuna, after looking at his kith and kin in the rival camp, lost his spirits and he did not want to fight. It was Lord Krishna, who gave the sermon of the Bhagwat Gita, having a universal significance and which has been translated into almost all the great world languages when he had remarked:’ Arjuna! Soul is immortal. All is pre-destined. You are a tool in the hands of destiny that moulds your character. Perform your allotted duty to end evil on earth. Glory shall go to you if you win the war, otherwise you will be hailed in the Heavens like a hero if you die. Arjuna was heartened and he fought the heroic battle at the Battle-field of Kurukshetra and won the Mahabharta War. The sermon of the Bhagwat Gita: ‘Whenever there is decline of righteousness. Arjuna, I body myself forth from age to age, to safeguard the interests of my devotees and to re-establish Dharma after doing away with evil.’ Thoreau, Mahatma Gandhi, Tolstoy, Emerson, Walt Whitman and many other great world philosophers were moved. Thoreau had remarked once: “Bhagwat Gita is my mother. Early in the morning I had to bow before it and recite its hymns. Only then I can have peace of mind.
