Pte Essay on “Some people feel that the responsibility for providing education should be borne”

Some people feel that the responsibility for providing education should be borne only by the government and that private education should be banned. What are the main advantages of banning private education? Are there any circumstances where private education should be allowed? What is your own opinion on the matter?

Most countries around the world offer two types of education system; government owned and privately owned education. Some people think that private education should be banned altogether.

Banning private education has its advantages. Firstly, it confers equality and uniformity to education. Most of the time, the cost of private education is exorbitant and hence it is beyond the reach of the downtrodden. As a result, there arises a huge difference in education between the rich and the poor. By providing government education. government can make sure that all are provided the same quality education and thus can help solve social inequity to a great extent.

However, it becomes necessary sometimes to allow private education. For example, in less developed countries, governments may not be .able to provide education to all due to lack of funds and infrastructure. In such cases, ii becomes an inescapable necessity for governments to allow private educational institutions. To illustrate, in India, the number of government run engineering and medical colleges is not enough to meet the demand. In such cases, banning private education will have a negative impact on the society. Still, it is the duty of governments to see that equality is maintained to the maximum possible extent.

In brief, it seems that allowing private education in a country depends on the financial condition of that country even though providing government education is the best option.
