A company in which every employee is made to feel important will run more smoothly and experience greater success than a company that values some employees above others. Discuss.

Companies adopt different ways to encourage their employees and to enhance productivity. Some may give financial incentives, some promotion and so on. It seems correct that the company that treats all its employees equally will function more smoothly than the company that strictly follows hierarchy.

Firstly, inequity creates disgust and anger. If one employee is treated better than others, the neglected ones may develop a negative attitude towards their company due to the discrimination they are met with. As everybody knows, close cooperation is utmost necessary for the growth of any organization which cannot be achieved without unity and uniformity. The company that treats some employees better than others is destroying the feeling of equity among its staff.

However, the issue has its other side too. Some employees are over-‘ achievers and they always crave for recognition and rewards. Treating them like other mediocre staff may make them lose the enthusiasm. Thus, treating all equally will bring great performers down to the level of average workers. Yet, it seems pointless to try to make a minority happy by making the majority dissatisfied. So, what is needed is a policy that can satisfy both the groups.

In total, it can be said that though treating some employees better than others helps ensure their satisfaction; only giving equal importance can bring about the necessary feeling of unity and equality.
