Pte 70 Score Essay on “Many of the world countries are suffering seriously from population explosion”. What are the reasons?

Many of the world countries are suffering seriously from population explosion. What are the reasons? What effect does it have on society? (Here you have to give ‘reasons’ and ‘effects’)

The increasing population has caused serious problems in every sphere. There was a time when population was considered to be an asset. However, this boon turned out to be a bane after the population grew more than a limit.

The first and foremost reason for the uncontrolled growth of population is illiteracy. The illiterate people feel that more children means more people to work and thus to add to the family income. They do not recognize the fact that it also means more people to feed and clothe. It also leads to evils like child marriage. This leads to early motherhood and more children. Lack of proper sex education also accounts for this misery. Yet another reason is poverty. A high number of children are born among the poor sections of the society. One can see hundreds of children in slum areas with their bodies hardly covered. Illiteracy and poverty go hand in hand. The desire for male children also creates problems. Many couples refuse to adopt family planning measures till they get a male child. This leads to the queuing up of female children.

This increase in population has dire consequences. The most important results are unemployment and consequent poverty. When population increases uncontrollably, more and more people become unemployed. It results in the migration of people from villages to cities and towns in search of work. The poor take shelter in slums and live in very unhygienic conditions. Furthermore, food production becomes lower as compared to the population. Our resources are limited. Growth in population leads to the disappearance of many non-renewable resources of energy like coal, petroleum, wood etc. Yet another problem is the drying up of water sources due to higher usage.

To Sum up, the root cause of population explosion is lack of education. If not addressed properly, this may pose a serious threat to the survival of humanity.
