Are all snakes poisonous?
Many snakes are poisonous- venomous is a better word and if you come across snake , it is better to leave it well alone, just in case !
Snakes such as vipers, cobras and rattlesnakes are very venomous and they use their venom to , kill their prey. The rattlesnake (left) waits until it is close to its prey – perhaps a rat – and then springs at it, jaws wide open as it bites the prey, venom from venom sacs in the snake’s head run down channels in the fangs and into the victim. This soon kills the prey which the snake then eats. There are some snakes that do not kill their prey by venom, however, the python and the boa constrictor are both snakes that use the powerful coils of their bodies to crush their victims to death.
