My dear Mother,

I am brimming over with joy and excitement while writing this letter to you. Yesterday was a great day for me and for you also. It must be called the happiest and most exciting day of my life. I saved the life of a poor drowning boy.

I had gone on a walking tour along the bank of the Jamuna early in the morning. I heard the agonizing shrieks of an old woman.

I rushed to her. She had come along with her little grandson to have a bath in the Jamuna. The little boy slipped from her hands and was carried away by the strong current of the river.

Without a moment’s hesitation, I jumped into the river. I caught hold of the boy and dragged him towards the bank. I had to struggle hard as the current was very strong. As I brought the boy out, the old lady heaved a sigh of relief. She wanted to reward me, but I just bowed to her.

Mother, I am proud of having done this noble deed.

With deep regards,

Yours affectionately,

Devendra

Respected Mother,

It is too difficult to express my joy and excitement, while writing this letter to you. Yesterday was a great day for me, as I proved myself a real saviour for a helpless boy, struggling hard for life in deep, swiftly-flowing Agra Canal. I am sure that my brave act would make you feel proud of your son. It must be called the happiest and the most exciting day of my life.

All this happened, when I had gone on a walking tour along the bank of the canal near the city early morning. Suddenly, I heard. agonizing shrieks of an old woman and went running to her without losing any time. She had come to the canal for a bath with her little grandson. Unknown to her, he slipped from her grip and was carried away by the strong current.

Without a second’s delay, I jumped into the canal with my clothes on and was able to catch hold of the boy, before it was too late. As the current was quite strong and fast, I had to struggle hard to drag the youngster to the land. Seeing us coming safe, the old lady heaved a sigh of relief and started blessing me from the core of her heart. She even wanted to reward me in cash, which I politely declined.

Mother, I think I am not going to forget this day in life !

Please convey my regards to father and respect to uncle and aunt,

Obediently yours,

Navin Garg
