Letter to the Delhi Development Authority, regarding fragile constructions.
Letter to the Delhi Development Authority, regarding fragile constructions.
March 8, 2003
To,
The Concerned Authority,
Delhi Development Authority,
Vikas Sadan,
New Delhi.
Sir,
The recent earthquake in Gujarat has once again opened the doors of the vulnerability of the flats constructed by Delhi Development Authority and exposed the residents to danger in case of a natural catastrophe. As a resident of Rohini and occupying an H.I.G. flat, the thickness of the walls is so low that cracks have already developed, in the last eight years. In monsoon, the water is seeping into the walls, which needs renovation from time to time. The area of construction is so less that the building becomes weak due to shortage of space and the risk is more to the residents of the 2nd Floor. All these things project a spine-chilling scenario to the consequences of an earthquake. This is a request on behalf of the residents Occupying DDA Flats throughout Delhi to make an inspection of such buildings and alert the residents.
Your kind consideration in this matter will be highly appreciated.
Thanking you.
Yours Sincerely,
Shambhu Pratap.
