Christmas is the greatest festival for Christians. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm. It comes on the 25th of December of each year. On this day Lord Jesus Christ was born.

Great preparations are made. All houses and churches are whitewashed. They are decorated with buntings, flowers, and pictures. The shops are also decorated beautifully.

The Christians get a Christmas tree home on this day. The tree is put in the center of the house and decorated with lamps, toys, flowers, gifts, streamers, stars, etc. it looks very beautiful. On top of the tree, a fairy is put. All the members of the house get together and sing prayers in praise of Lord Jesus. Gifts are exchanged. Greetings and beautiful Christmas cards are sent to friends and relatives on this occasion.

On the day all houses have a beautiful feast on the table. It consists of the finest things that the family can afford. The lady of the house mingles with the guest with joy and enthusiasm. Mince pies, turkey, cake, pudding are some of the delicacies on the table. After the feast, everybody sings and dances. Children enjoy it a lot. On Christmas Eve everybody attends the midnight mass in the church. Children sing Christmas carrots. Everybody prays that they may lead a happy life in the coming year.

The markets are very gaily decorated. Most of the big shops have special discounts and sales. Everybody gets into a frenzy of shopping. The whole atmosphere is carefree and gay. Christmas is indeed a beautiful festival.

Christmas is the greatest festival of Christians, it is celebrated with great enthusiasm like Diwali of the Hindus. It comes on the 25th of December every year. It is the date when Jesus Christ was born. It is like Krishna Janmashtami of the Hindus

The Christians plant a Christmas tree on this day. They cut the branch of a tree and plant it in a corner of the house. Then they decorate this tree with lamps and toys and flowers. At night, it looks very beautiful. All the members of the house sit together and sing prayers in praise of Lord Jesus. Guests and friends also join them. Christmas gifts are presented to them.
