Essay on “A Day in the Life of an Advocate” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

A Day in the Life of an Advocate

Nobody can practise in a court of law unless he has a degree of law from a recognised university or institution.

It is said that when Gandhiji appeared for the first time before the judge in order to fight a case, he couldn’t utter a single word. He was so shy by nature. This can happen with any other person also. But Gandhiji shone in life because he followed the truth. Anybody can follow in the footsteps of Gandhiji provided he has guts and character of Gandhiji.

An advocate gets up early in the morning. He may go out for a walk. Then he has a bath. He takes his breakfast. Before leaving for the court, he reaches his own room or cabin. There he calls for the files for the day from his assistant. He has already studied them. But he has a bird’s eye view of them before appearing before the judge.

He has a final talk with the plaintiff or the defendant as the case may be and with the witnesses. He gives them necessary instructions. He dictates to his assistant whatever matter is to be handwritten or typed. Thus, he prepares affidavits, statements and other documents.

He is a very smart, quick-witted person. He has to study several books of law for fighting every case. He may have to quote several clauses, rules, regulations, sections, ordinances, laws, acts, etc. to support his arguments.

In the beginning, the work of an advocate seems to be quite tough, but with the passage of time, he gets highly experienced and is a much sought-after man.

He returns home after the court time is over. He may play some light game in the evening like badminton, tennis, etc. or watch TV. After dinner, he studies his old and new cases thoroughly and prepares notes and points in his diary, etc. as required. Often, he goes to bed quite late at night.
